When we look back on the terrible things that have happened in our country this week, we grieve. There are hundreds of people who lost a brother, father, husband, and friend. We pray for comfort.
There are many black people in this country who have lost their lives merely because of the color of their skin. We pray for justice.
There are many police officers who are doing right. Men and women who put their lives in jeopardy. The dangers have increased. We pray for protection.
But we don’t stop at prayer. There is an answer. We need the church to rise up. The church is called to be a pillar for truth. Therefore, proclaim truth, O church. The world needs to know that every single person is created in the image of God--every single person displays God’s beauty. Every single person is beautiful in God’s sight. The church cannot fail the mission. O Church, arise.
