Dan Benitez grew up in the Tampa Bay area before going to school in South Carolina. While working on his Master of Divinity degree he met and then married Jessica. Their 6 children - Micaiah, Joshua, Caleb, Adelei, Timothy, and Esther - keep them very busy.
Although Calvary holds to a plurality of elders, at the inauguration of this local body the church eagerly awaits another elder. When Paul left Titus in Crete, Titus was instructed to ordain elders in each church. For Paul, it was completely normal to plant a church with the intention of having a plurality in the near future.
Outside of the Bible there are three books that have had a great influence on me. The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment by Jeremiah Burroughs was helpful in identifying the areas of discontentment in my own heart. The Death of Death by John Owen was instrumental in helping me think through the topic of Limited Atonement. Finally, The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer encouraged me as a teenager in my pursuit of God.
Dan's union with Christ and passages like Romans 8 bring a great deal of encouragement. "There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus" sums up the hope that is found in Christ alone.
